According to Federal Computer Week, First Lady Michelle Obama has shared that a new program will be providing thousands of veterans with a chance to achieve the certifications that are required for technology careers.
Veterans have been facing high unemployment rates and difficulty getting important job certifications, so it’s a great time for the Feds to launch The Information Technology Training and Certification Partnership. Obama said that the partnership is expected to provide training for 12 different high-paying, high-demand technology careers for up to 161,000 service members.
“This new partnership will provide up to 161,000 service members with the chance to gain the certifications they need for 12 different high-demand, high-paying technology careers … from IT security analysts to computer programmers to quality assurance engineers,” she noted.
Corporate America has also been working to help our veterans find the work they so desperately need. Seattle’s Amazon.com Inc. has been campaigning to increase the hiring of veterans and has been hiring veterans to work them. They’ve been working with military recruiters and veterans who serve as mentors to hire, and promote the hiring of our veterans.
