Hecht & Associates Architects, a small but busy architectural firm, required the
ability to collaborate on critical business data including file sharing, email,
contacts and calendaring. Hecht & Associates also needed the ability to have a
centralized and unified security policy throughout the organization, a more
productive desktop application environment and secure remote access to their
email.

Solution Description
Hecht & Associates asked us to implement a
technology solution that would help them achieve their operational goals. We
designed and deployed a solution that included Microsoft Windows XP
Professional and Microsoft Office 2003 on the desktop and Microsoft Small
Business Server 2003 with Windows Server 2003 and Exchange Server 2003
for the network.

DM Berg Consultants, P.C. required updated technology to keep pace with the
growth in their business since their last network infrastructure implementation.
Berg wanted to take advantage of the end user productivity enhancements
available in Microsoft Windows XP and Microsoft Office 2003. At the same
time, Berg Consultants required increase capacity for data storage and retrieval,
improved remote access to data and email, and enhanced application
functionality.

Solution Description
To achieve this, DM Berg Consultants engaged our Network Consulting
Group to design and deploy a new network infrastructure that included new
technologies for desktop and server operating systems, desktop and enterprise
applications and enterprise messaging and collaboration. On the desktop, we
implemented client pc's running Microsoft Windows XP and Microsoft Office
2003. DM Bergs Windows NT network was upgraded to a Windows Server
2003 network with Active Directory, file and print servers were upgraded to
Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and Bergs messaging infrastructure was
migrated from Microsoft Exchange 5.5 to Exchange Server 2003 running
Windows Server 2003.

Smarter Living, Inc. an online consumer community dedicated to helping
people save time and money, required a messaging system that would provide
them with improved capicity, enhanced security and better diaster recovery
features than their existing messaging system.

Solution Description
To achieve this, Smarter Living, Inc. requested assistance from our Network
Consulting Group in upgrading their Windows 2000 domain running Microsoft
Exchange Server 2000 to a Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 organization on
Windows Server 2003. With the help of our Network Consulting Group,
Smarter Living Inc. migrated approximately 50 end user Exchange mail boxes
and 10GB of Data from their existing Exchange 2000 Organization to the new
Exchange 2003 Server. The goals of this project were a seamless transition of
mail services and mail data from the existing platform to the new Exchange
2003 server with limited downtime to end users. To achieve this, our
Network Consulting Group performed an intra−org migration or an “upgrade
and move of mailboxes” from an existing Exchange 2000 server to a new
Exchange 2003 server on Windows Server 2003.

As a result of this upgrade, Smarter Living, Inc experienced a seamless
transition of messaging systems from Exchange 2000 to Exchange 2003. This
has allowed Smarter Living, Inc. to benefit from more secure remote access to
their Exchange data, better diaster recovery preparedness and improved
performance from their messaging and collaboration infrastructure.
